Stealing the Ceiling
Posted Dec 28th, 2008 by Conor in in Music,The Dominican AffairMy band (yes I own the band!) The Dominican Affair are about to record our first album. I’m not really sure if you could call it an album – it’s more like an EP really. But never the less I am excited.
We had our first practice in about a month today. It was OK, that’s it! Lately we have been going downhill as a band, only ever meeting up for gigs and the like. But we have pooled our gig money over the last few months and now we finally have enough to record! Hopefully we will get going again now and this recording will give us a bit of inspiration. We are going to practice flat out over the next two weeks for the recording in Tommy Flack’s Attic Studios on the 16th and the 17th.
The album/EP will be called ‘Stealing the Ceiling’ and will have six tracks:
- Euphoria (Behind the Fridge)
- Blood Apple
- Rock Against the Treaty
- Fish Bowl
- Invisible
- Cannonball
We have been playing for about a year and a half now and we only have six songs! But they are six good ones and that’s the main thing! They are numbered in the order that they were written. I think that we will put them on the EP in that order because it will show the progression of our genre and musical style. There really is a great range of genre in those songs. The earlier tracks are heavier and the later popier (if that is a word) with the exception of the last song which is pretty heavy (for us anyway).
Hopefully if all goes well we will launch it in good old Mc Kennas in the start of February. At the moment Luke is still working on the Artwork which knowing him will be brilliant! He designed the original Dominican Affair logo. You can see my photoshopped-up version of that logo as the skin at the bands bebo site. On a different subject something like that could never be created on GIMP so I really need to get my photoshop working on Linux! We are still considering possibly also doing a second launch in Deery’s for “the older generation”!
That’s about it. I will have the music up on the blog once its recorded and don’t hesitate to order one! It will be about €7.
