			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think we stared advertising for this album about 3 years ago, and you may still see it spray-painted around certain parts of Monaghan Town or engraved on the footpath! Well, a few years in the making, this short, 7-track, album is finally being released by &#8216;The Dominican Affair&#8217;.</p>
<p>Readers of my blog are going to be privileged enough to get a sneak preview of the finished product before it is officially released next month. We haven&#8217;t decided if we are going to release the album for free download yet; I&#8217;m all for it but the others aren&#8217;t buying it. But I have provided 30-sec exclusive clips of all of the tracks below. The line-up is as follows; although the CD might not be in this order:</p>
<ol>
<li>Cannibal</li>
<li>Blood Apple</li>
<li>Invisible</li>
<li>Euphoria</li>
<li>Fish Bowl</li>
<li>Hit the Deck</li>
<li>R.A.T.</li>
</ol>
<p>I think that there are wide variety of genres in this album, I couldn&#8217;t really hold it to any one particularly but I&#8217;m open to suggestions! We got a good deal considering what we paid for I think, and I have to give a big thanks to both Tommy Flack, who recorded the album, and Keith Corbet who mixed the album with Tommy free of charge. I am very happy with the result, although there are some things I would pay more attention to if I was to do it again! We hope to have the albums on sale in the next three weeks or so and they will be available here on my blog from that point on. Without further hesitation h, here are the tracks:</p>
<p><script src="http://files.macaoidh.name/website/music-player/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<div id="flashPlayer">This text will be replaced by the flash music player.</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">
   var so = new SWFObject("http://files.macaoidh.name/website/music-player/playerMultipleList.swf", "mymovie", "295", "200", "7", "#FFFFFF");
   so.addVariable("autoPlay","no")
   so.addVariable("playlistPath","http://files.macaoidh.name/website/music-player/music/stealing-the-ceiling/playlist.xml")
   so.write("flashPlayer");
</script></p>
<p>Feedback welcome! If you are interested in seeing us perform we are playing on Allison Curtis Today fm at 11pm Wednesday 21st October 2009, and we are also appearing in Whelans, Dublin on 5th December 2009.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My band (yes I own the band!) <a href="http://thedominicanaffair.com">The Dominican Affair</a> are about to record our first album. I&#8217;m not really sure if you could call it an album &#8211; it&#8217;s more like an EP really. But never the less I am excited.</p>
<p>We had our first practice in about a month today. It was OK, that&#8217;s it! Lately we have been going downhill as a band, only ever meeting up for gigs and the like. But we have pooled our gig money over the last few months and now we finally have enough to record! Hopefully we will get going again now and this recording will give us a bit of inspiration. We are going to practice flat out over the next two weeks for the recording in Tommy Flack&#8217;s Attic Studios on the 16th and the 17th.</p>
<p>The album/EP will be called &#8216;Stealing the Ceiling&#8217; and will have six tracks:</p>
<ol>
<li>Euphoria (Behind the Fridge)</li>
<li>Blood Apple</li>
<li>Rock Against the Treaty</li>
<li>Fish Bowl</li>
<li>Invisible</li>
<li>Cannonball</li>
</ol>
<p>We have been playing for about a year and a half now and we only have six songs! But they are six good ones and that&#8217;s the main thing! They are numbered in the order that they were written. I think that we will put them on the EP in that order because it will show the progression of our genre and musical style. There really is a great range of genre in those songs. The earlier tracks are heavier and the later popier (if that is a word) with the exception of the last song which is pretty heavy (for us anyway).</p>
<p>Hopefully if all goes well we will launch it in good old Mc Kennas in the start of February. At the moment Luke is still working on the Artwork which knowing him will be brilliant! He designed the original Dominican Affair logo. You can see my photoshopped-up version of that logo as the skin at <a href="http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=3015033139&amp;ShowSims=Y">the bands bebo site</a>. On a different subject something like that could never be created on GIMP so I really need to get my photoshop working on Linux! We are still considering possibly also doing a second launch in Deery&#8217;s for &#8220;the older generation&#8221;!</p>
<p>That&#8217;s about it. I will have the music up on the blog once its recorded and don&#8217;t hesitate to order one! It will be about €7.</p>
